Pom Pom Paper Liner Flowers
This fun springtime craft uses just 3 materials to make the flowers; pom poms, popsicle sticks and cupcake liners. It can be done as a three dimensional flower craft, or it can be made flat on paper as a 2D picture.
Whether you’re doing this as a 2D or 3D craft, you’ll need all the same supplies. Although you’ll need to add a piece of large paper to serve as the background for the flat (2D) activity. And for the 3D flowers, you’ll need a vase of some sort to display them.
Choose a handful of cupcake liners to act as your flower petals. Using a variety of colors results in a vibrant display. Start by poking a popsicle stick through the center of a single cupcake liner. The liners are thin enough that even a preschooler can do this part.
Next add a generous amount of clear glue all around the end of the popsicle stick that is poking through the liner. (White glue will work fine too.) Young children may need a pair of helping hands for this part.
Then firmly press a pom pom onto that dollop of glue. Squeeze the outside of the cupcake liner so it is pressed against the glue, pom pom and popsicle stick. Hold it firmly in place for a few moments to help it adhere.
Repeat the steps to make more colorful pom pom paper flowers. Have fun mixing colors of pom poms and cupcake liners.
Place the completed flowers in a vase of some sort. The one shown below is filled with dry beans as a way to hold the flowers up.
Alternatively, kids can make this craft as a flat display on a sheet of blank paper. We used mixed media paper which we like to keep on hand for a variety of different projects such as our watercolor cards. I’ve linked to it below for your convenience.

For the flat 2D version, start by planning where you want your flowers placed on the paper by positioning the popsicle stick stems. Once you’re happy with the placement, glue the sticks to the paper using the liquid glue.
Then, make the flower petals by fully opening the cupcake liner and gluing it down completely flat to the paper overlapping the upper tip of the popsicle stick stem. (Don’t use much glue for this part or it will seep through the paper liner.
Next, adhere a pom pom to the cupcake liner use a generous amount of glue. (Be sure you’re using a thick paper that can handle lots of liquid glue.)
Additionally, cut open a green cupcake liner and glue it along the bottom edge of the paper to represent grass. Kids could get creative and add a yellow sun and maybe a blue bird with more bits of cupcake liners.
And there you have a quick and simple springtime craft of Pom Pom Paper Flowers.
The 3D version of this craft would be great to make as a gift for Mother’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Teacher Appreciation, or any other time you want to give something cheerful to a loved one.
